DALL-E Mini has taken the internet by storm, as it has allowed players to combine memes and craft absurd images by throwing two completely different topics together. However, it has been particularly fun for gamers, as they have been allowed to combine franchises or video game art styles with ease. For every hilarious lineup of images like the Gigachad embracing the Frenzied Flame in Elden Ring, gamers can see some gorgeous art generated by an AI. Thanks to the cleverness of CTU-01, fans got a look at a Metal Gear-like version of Arthur Morgan.

Metal Gear Solid’s iconic concept art was made by Yoji Shinkawa, a beloved figure who has created some pieces based on Call of Duty Zombies and The Last of Us 2. However, Shinkawa is best known for his work on Hideo Kojima’s games, as he has been involved with each Metal Gear Solid title and the industry icon’s 2019 release Death Stranding. Shinkawa’s designs are simultaneously detailed and minimalistic, with the artist only using a few colors for each piece or sticking entirely to black and white art. Shockingly, DALL-E Mini nailed Shinkawa’s style.
Given how beloved Red Dead Redemption 2’s protagonist Arthur Morgan is, it is no surprise that CTU-01 chose them to be the subject of these images. What was more unexpected was how great the AI-created images turned out, as Arthur can be clearly made out in each piece. The first image is undoubtedly the best, though. While Arthur seemingly has an eyepatch like Snake, a sign of the AI’s limitations, his cowboy hat and his outfit both look terrific.
Other images show Arthur walking with a shadow behind him and Arthur with a knife in-hand, though the close-up on his face is easily the most Shinkawa-like. In the comments, several Redditors responded to the post, confirming that there are plenty of people out there who love both Metal Gear Solid and Red Dead Redemption. Reddit user mragentofchaos even pokes fun at the “played like a fiddle” meme from Metal Gear Solid 5, joking that this is how Arthur would look if he suffered a similar fate.
Going forward, fans of Hideo Kojima’s games and Yoji Shinkawa’s work may want to see if DALL-E Mini can produce any results as cool as this. After all, there are plenty of video game characters that would be fun to see in Metal Gear Solid’s concept art style.
