Luckily, there were tons of press members who found themselves invited into that exclusive room. So while the new look at Ahsoka isn’t quite ready to be seen by the general public, it’s absolutely ready to get mercilessly dissected by enthusiastic journalists everywhere. Thanks to those accounts, a number of exciting returns are now all but confirmed for the show, which should make fans of Star Wars Rebels quite happy.

The reveal came courtesy of modern Star Wars legends Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, who took to the stage to share an unexpected early look at Ahsoka, which only just started filming recently. According to those present at the panel, the mere 30-second clip was enough to confirm almost beyond any doubt that a number of fan-favorite characters from Filoni’s animated series Star Wars Rebels would finally be making their live-action debuts. In fact, 2 of them even showed up on stage.
The first is obvious, with series star Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) introducing to the stage Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Bordizzo was announced last year as the actress set to play Sabine Wren, the fan-favorite Rebels character who will be appearing on Ahsoka. The panel also saw the lovable droid Chopper from the same series making a brief cameo, essentially confirming it would also show up in live-action form on the show. Then the video began, and things got even cooler.
The footage reportedly featured a brief glimpse at the back of a familiar green Twi’lek’s head, leading onlookers to the conclusion that Hera Syndulla from Rebels would show up on Ahsoka as well. Unfortunately, there still hasn’t been any confirmation that Mena Massoud would play a live-action Ezra Bridger, but it’s starting to seem more and more likely given what’s been seen here. After a shot of Bordizzo as Sabine looking on at a mural seen in Rebels, it seems to be an almost certainty that the crew of the Ghost from that beloved show will play a fairly substantial role in the upcoming series. This also lends credence to the theory that Hera will replace Gina Carano’s Cara Dune in the previously-planned Rangers of the New Republic series.
Needless to say, this is all based on reports from a closed-room preview, so it’s difficult to confirm entirely. But given how many of the accounts from the panel seem to match up, it may be safe to take this info without any extra grains of salt. If there’s one thing Star Wars loves, it’s cameos, and Ahsoka looks to be chock full of them.
Ahsoka will release on Disney Plus in 2023.
