On Monday, as Vice President Megawati Sukarnoputri took the presidential oath of office with a Koran held over her head, Jakarta and the entire nation were quiet. Aside from several church bombings which may or may not have had a political motive, there were no significant demonstrations protesting Wahid’s constitutional ouster.
